Jun 11, AM in response to lllaass In response to lllaass I was getting the message even though I never used the charger, the first link does not pertain to my problem because the ipod works fine and i never did try to put it on the cable Jun 11, AM in response to Kmart12 In response to Kmart12 What frequently happens is that the water cause corrosion and that can short contacts like the charging port.
You can try gently cleaning the charging port. However, the corrosion may be internal. However, be aware that this voids the iPod warranty. Wipe the parts with cotton or a cloth and rubbing alcohol. Then place them in a sealed plastic bag with uncooked rice or silica gels.
Either of these items will absorb the moisture in the iPod. The good news is that all iPod models are expertly designed and well-built to withstand possible damages. Although there is little chance of water getting into the device itself, if the iPod was completely submerged in water, the problem may not be solved by the tips above.
Quickly remove it from water, make sure it's powered off, and place it in a dry, absorbent place for a few days like a bag of rice. The idea is to make sure the device is dried out completely before you send any electrical current through again.
