The book of Hebrews says that Jesus became our great high priest:. That is why we must hold on to what we have said about him. Jesus understands every weakness of ours, because he was tempted in every way that we are. But he did not sin! So whenever we are in need, we should come bravely before the throne of our merciful God. Jesus spoke repeatedly of seeking the Lord in all that we say, think, feel, and do.
He often secluded Himself from crowds and his own disciples to seek time with His Heavenly Father. Our faith helps us believe God will move on our behalf or whether or not it influences our beliefs and attitudes. These will in part play a major role in our thinking patterns. These thoughts, in turn will have an impact on our emotions and feelings. These feelings and emotions will play a role in our stress and behaviors. In other words, the soul and body need to yield to the spirit.
God has called us to live a life that glorifies the Lord in all that we do. To do this, we as Christians must die to our fleshly desires as we take up our cross—our burdens, imperfections, and weaknesses on a daily basis. To glorify God means to place physical trust in His plan to bring redemption to our brokenness. It means remembering we were bought at a price and our lives are no longer our own. It means remembering His promises to bring wholeness and a life of abundance.
It means acknowledging our weaknesses and limitations while seeking His will, His strength, and His wisdom. Our soul is our mind, will and emotions. This is the part where we think and feel. Our soul feels pleasure or perceives hurts from others.
Our soul can be energized or discouraged. It is in our soul that we become anxious or we rest peacefully. We are all created as spiritual beings too. Because our spirits are intangible and usually have no direct manifestation in this world, this part gets overlooked and discounted by many folks. It is in our spirit that the Spirit of God comes to reside when we become new creations upon accepting the payment Jesus made for our sins.
God can speak to us while we are listening to a preaching or teaching, in night dreams and day visions, j and even through an apparent donkey. Where does inspiration come from? The One who knows all! Inspiration comes to our mind and emotion via our spirit link. While inspiration can be triggered by something we have read or heard, sometimes it can appear out of nowhere, alerting us God is sharing insight. As God inspires, we become aware and receive or dismiss the insight that could improve an understanding, or even become a new product or service.
By receiving the influential thoughts and inclinations God offers! An active spirit restores and renews our mind and emotions.
Understanding the Soul Each person is equipped with a body and a spirit as sources of natural and spiritual life. Now God wants us to live and act not by ourselves, that is, by our soul, but by His life in our spirit.
Our mind is educated in school, and we actively live according to what we think. We also experience the wide range of human emotions, and we often respond to situations and matters according to how we feel. Based on what we think or feel, we make decisions with our will. When we were saved, Christ came to live in our spirit. He came to live in us so that He would be our life, and we would live by Him. So throughout our day, we have to realize we can either live according to our natural human life in our soul, or by the life of Christ in our spirit.
We can easily live and act apart from the Lord in our soul, according to our own thoughts or feelings. When this happens, we express ourselves. But when we live by the divine life in our spirit, Christ is the source of our living, and the thoughts, feelings, and intentions of our soul are directed by our spirit. Then in our words, actions, and living, we express God. Spending time with the Lord in His Word helps us discern where we are.
